The Western Institute was started by Shane Croke in 2009.
Shane has over 22 years experience in the EMS industry. He founded the Western Institute of Emergency Education (WIEE) when it was know as Shane’s Emergency Medical Training Services Inc (SCEMTS). Over the last 13 years he and his team have provided mobile medical and safety training all over Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Territories. The WIEE Team certified to instruct and train instructors in a vast array of health and safety courses and programs through various organizations such as Heart and Stroke, Red Cross, NAEMT, Canadian Paediatric Society, ITLS Alberta and more.
In 2017 the WIEE opened its first training centre with 3 sites now open in Vermilion, Sherwood Park and Calgary.
In 2019 the WIEE offered its first EMR program and will soon be starting their PCP programs.
In the Spring of 2022 the WIEE opened its Fire Academy.
