Tony Connelly, EMT-P BhSc PGCed

Tony has over 30 years in the health service industry as a paramedic and clinical educator. His pre-hospital emergency care experience was gained from his previous position as Head of Staff Education and Development for one of the largest ambulance services in England. He was responsible for the educational needs for over 1,000 ambulance personnel.

Tony developed a competency-based Paramedic educational program that was awarded the UK Governments National Excellence in Education and Innovation. This program helped his EMS service become the first service to attain the government’s target of a paramedic on every frontline emergency vehicle.

Tony worked with the Red Cross and British Red Cross in developing the very first ambulance service reserve. This initiative resulted in Red Cross volunteers working and training together with the UK ambulance service in preparation for major incidents.

Tony has also worked in the in-hospital environment as a training manager. In this position he was responsible for resuscitation, Trauma education and major incident planning for two large acute hospitals in Northeast England.

Tony’s last position was as the Director of Education & Science for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSF). Tony is currently WIEE Programs Coordinator Programs Development. He is on the WIEE Board of Directors and he serves on the International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Board of Directors as well as the other committees and Task forces.
